can a lhd berg shifter be coverted to rhd??

can you undo the handle and fit a rhd handle?

or cannot be done? just wondering, a mate has one for sale he bought new in 95 and never used it! and comes with a signature handle spare too!

The only thing different on a right hand drive shifter is the handle.  Get a right hand drive handle and swap it out.  It is very easy to do.

It may be, but I remember Gene telling me that after a trip down under he decided to start making some handles for RHD.  There is no problem changing the handle to make it RHD.

I've got a LHD shifter and a RHD handle to go on it, and it looks like it should go together fine. What I do need is the reverse lockout button and the two set screws to hold the handle onto the shaft.

Ivan, I'm fairly sure that the shafts are the same - a friend went to Bergs several years ago and Clyde converted a shifter from LHD to RHD for them while they were there. It might be different for the different bends though!

I ordered 2 when the  signature advert appeared. The good old days , seeing an advert in hot vws  going back to the newsagent getting loads of change and phoning Gene Berg in California from a telephone box in Newport  Wales. They even understood Scottish

Not in Wales they didn't !!
