Evening all!

I've been continuing my hunt for period bits for my Beetle rally car replica build and I've managed to get my hands on a Sig Erson VW210 camshaft which is believed to be from a 1970's Autocavan Rallycross engine. I'm lead to believe the engine was a 2110 (90.5x82), 40x30 valve heads if that helps with identification.

I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about the specifications of these cams such as duration and lift etc. Would it have been used with stock ratio rockers or others?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!  Smiley

According to Keith Seume:

"Sig Erson VW-210 camshaft offered 0.466in lift at the valve (with 1.5:1 ratio rockers) and 322 degrees of duration. It was described as "a high lift mid-range and top-end power camshaft offering broad power range in fully modified engines over 1800cc". The timing is as follows: IO 51∞; IC 91∞; EO 91∞; EC 51∞"

For future reference, I managed to find a copy of an old Erson Catalogue with all the VW cam specs in:


I am slightly confused by the way it says all the cams are for stock ratio rockers but it also says the VW-210 should be used with high ratio for best results? This also conflicts with Keith Seume's info?!

If you look at the description of the VW210 it states "should have billet cylinder heads (!), high-ratio rockers…". Billet heads? Hmmm. Smiley

Anyway, the thing is that the cams could be used with stock rockers if you wished, but who would?

Did Sig Erson offer two different lengths of pushrods, one for stock stroke and one for strokers?  If so, would anyone know the lengths of each?  I need some for a stroker, just thought they would be longer.

Most engine builders cut the pushrods to the proper length for the rocker geometry.  Deck height, stroke, etc., all play into the length of the push rods.  If you are building a stocker, one size generally fits all, providing stock cam and rockers. When you start flycutting heads, shimming barrels, changing strokes, heads, rockers, etc., the pushrod lengths will need to be determined for the motor.
