I aways thought that type 3 rear backing plates are different than type 1...! then some told me that they are the same as type 1....are they the same ...?..... Huh

They are bigger in diameter to match the bigger diameter drums.

not that i know of, maybe 62 (early early) was different.

I've got later (4 lug) backing plates with early wide 5 drums. They bolted straight on to bug short axles, the only difference are the holes for adjusting the shoes on the late ones.  Smiley
