Going through some old boxs and found some pics when my wife I and went on the Caravan from Costa Mesa to Sac. back in 1987. I believe it was 420 cars all together, Was alot of fun. These are just a bunch of pics, not in any order. If anybody wants to add more, please go for it or even some stories.....

I remember this event well.  I was the announcer in the TOWER at Bug-O-Rama that event. John Stafford ask me to fill in and I took over the announching chores. Was a fun event.  We drove a lowered white 67 all the way from Arizona to participate.

That looks like fun Cool How many of the cars were Cal Lookers compared to other styles (customs, stockers, busses etc)?

Hey Ted my wife and I participated in that one.  I had been reading about that in previous years and decided to do it.  We had a great time.  I think the magazine said that we had 419 cars at the end. Wonder how many started and never got there.  Did you start at the very beginning in Costa Mesa.  We were staying with my wife's aunt in Hawthorne and drove down to the beginning in the early morning.  Your pictures are much better than mine.  That was so cool with spectators on the over passes and all.  Love to do it again.

Thanks guy's, yes we started from the beginning with many stops in between to pick up more VW's and get gas. I remember somewhere that a shop hosted a lunch for all of us. Also remember the CHP blocked the K-Mart parking lot and let a few out at at time, but down the road we all met up again. That one pic with mini-truck or bug passing a soda (beer) to the other. Good times for sure. Maybe someone will recognize more people or VW's!
Fabs, cool flyer, I remember that one, going to print that and save it with the pics.
Hey Mark, maybe Rick can verify that Notch? This was a big Caravan, must have been some Club members in it, who? Anybody else with pic's? Please post!

Here's a bunch of photos assembled to give an idea of what it was like at the end of the Caravan.  I believe that CB Performance provided the pizzas at the lunch stop.
