Great read... I really enjoyed reading through that article yesterday. Very cool to see the Lightning Bug II survivng nearly 40 years later!

Absolutely awesome! Thread is, of course, worthless without pics… ;)

PS – Deano, how come Hot VWs never makes it to Cornwall! Not had a copy delivered for a year. I think the Post Office (UK or US) has it in for me! ??? :'( :'(

They make it to North East England ok, must be our carrier Pigeons :D
Excellent news about Lightening Bug II, looking forward to seeing some progress updates...

Here is an up date. The Schleys loaded up the Lightning Bug and extra parts into a container yesterday in San Juan. That container is headed for Jacksonville, Florida, where it will be off-loaded onto either a truck, or freight train, and shipped to Costa Mesa. Just about everything was found, except the original wheelie bars, they appear to be MIA.

The plan is to have this car completely done, painted (and running), along with the Lightning Bug dragster for next year's Bug-In, late April/early May 2011. Photos to come next week....
