Just curious as to what parts may be sought out or desired either by rebuilders or otherwise, as I have quite a few components sitting around from a couple of recent parts lot purchases.  Mainshafts, gears, etc, etc... I've identified some of the components that I'm familiar with, but I'm definitely not very knowledgeable of the inner transaxle workings.  Just wondering what the general interest is in parts that appear to be good, used components, like gear stacks and what not.

I figured this stuff has to do somebody some good... too useful to some degree to just throw it out, is my thought?

I'm not optimistic I have a whole lot of desirable stuff, but I'm hoping to find somebody that can make use of what's there.  I can't bring myself to scrap it, by any stretch... I'll go through it and see what I have.  Are gears ever marked with their ratio stamped on the gear face?  Just curious what the numbers on them might signify.

Late model stuff is good for internal bits and pieces.  Ring gear will have a code ID'ing ratio and manufacturer.  "G" or "K833" is a 4.12 r+p (33 divided by 8 = 4.125).  "831" is a 3.88 set.

Late gear stacks are usually fine-tooth, not as desirable as coarse.  To find ratios, count number of teeth and divide.

Before I go too much further, by "late" I am talking single side cover stuff, 1973+.

Thanks for the advice, I will look into this stuff probably this weekend when I have some time on my hands... I'm thinking I've got pre-73, as I know at least some stuff is swingaxle.  Hope isn't entirely lost... I just need to go through my bentley and figure out what I'm looking at Grin
