Hi. I've just moved my shifter back 3.5 inches and need to shorten my shift rod. Does anyone know if I can use my mig welder on the shift rod or does it have to be gas or tig welded. Hope someone can help as I don't want to damage it. Cheers jay

Mig is ok. Would consider a short pipe inserted in the rod. Then weld the joint and some spotwelds through the rod into the pipe.
