IS this a " NEW " production run of the Autocraft case and gear carrier ?  I ask because I have already done this build.

Here i am pressing the new pinion bearing on to the weddle 4,44 pinionshaft
That will go on the rhino case.

Now i gently warming the case to slide the shaft inc a 1mm shim  in the case .
torqued it then checked the preload of the bearing .

Weddle told me to do a patern run out on the r/p and start with 1 1mm shim so no pinion depth measurement here .
next to do is find the carrier size and setting it with the correct preload .
To do this i use special tools and gagets.
first  thing is measure the total play.
That was 7,3 mm
so next adding shims and checking the preload of -0.10 mm
i use a dummy carrier and bearings for that
this operation is only to check and set the pinion depth

After adding the rigth shimpack and checked carrier spinning i removed the carrier again and took some  shims off the opposite ring gear side
so i can slide the ring gear towards the pinion and take the measurements for correct backlash
i heated the ring gear in hot water and placed it over the carier my little one wanted to know how a torque wrench worked so she torqued the bolts.
next i started to measure the backlash
to do that put the tool back in again an began to set i up the sopper and bearing at the end of the shaft .

next time i wil run the patern to see if it is correct
for my there is only one way to do it and that is correct.

Last week i did some patern runs on the weddle 3.44 that goes in to the rhino case.
tryed a few different shim set up s every time you change the pinion depth also have to correct the backlash as wel
Its a pretty time consuming handling .
But i am pleased with the result .
this is with the 0.70 shim under the pinion

I was not happy whit that result
it was a little heavy on the toe for met
So i changed the shim to a 0.60
And adjusted the backlash again and this is the result.

Very bussy at work
At the moment
The next thing to do is to machine the 3.78 shaft and instal a hard woodruf key
To fit the weddle gears.
I will post pics of the machine work thats involved
