Just imported (to my iTunes/computer) an album that I haven't heard since it was released in 1979...

Tubeway Army (Gary Numan's old band before he went solo)
Replicas.

WOW, what a great album and killer era music. Brings back a lotta memories of working at Lakewood Center Skateboard World (skatepark) and cruising Whittier Blvd. in my Bugs.

I'll have to dig up all that Wave stuff, 12 " etc. and burn it. It's almost retro again, and there are
some hidden Jewels in that music as well.

It's funny... I've been listening to the music that I grew up with since it was new. People in the '90s would trip out when I'd play the old late '70s Punk and early '80s New Wave stuff. I still listen to a lotta Grunge from the early '90s. It reminds me of when my sons were born. Went to a show the other night... it's my friend's band (also my skateboard bearing sponsor) called Nearvana. COOL Nirvana tribute band. They look and play just like the real thing. Another band we checked out was AudioGarden... Sound Garden/Audio Slave tribute band. More good stuff!

But you're right... there are some jewels in that old 'Wave music. I never get sick of hearing it.

some music sticks with you, no matter how old you get... some of the stuff I listened to in junior high and high school is still in my player now 20+ years later. I think I play my old CD's over my "new" ones probably 10 to 1
I think it all has to do with imagery the music brings up....

first learning to drive in my blue '67 at 15-16 yr old: Zep 1 or Physical Grafitti

cold drafty nights driving my POS '67 Baja convert at 17-18 yr old....   2nd Pink Floyd album or J.F.A

driving to So Cal in my '67 for Classic, early 90's....had to be Jane's Addiction (also the aicd-on-Hwy 1 "trip" with Sheep in 1989  Shocked)

parts runs to Bergs from Bay Area in my X/19...   Sonic Youth, Doors, Stones, Ramones

working on stuff in the garage throughout the 90's until the present: any old Grateful Dead stuff.

Harry congrats on the "new" old albums. JA's was and still is one of the landmark bands of all time. I remember first time I heard Nothing's Shocking in 1988, when I was listening to 80's hardcore, punk, and old stuff like Floyd, Zep, Black Sabbath and some stuff like Anthrax and Metallica, Motorhead, Sonic youth....  anyway, JA blew me away... I was like "WTF is THIS???" It was like a psychotic blend of punk, goth, metal, psychedelia,, but really it was none of that stuff,  but it was one of those things that just worked, and their older stuff certainly has stood the test of time. Way ahead of their time, preceeded all the grunge stuff, 100x the musicians that Nirvana was, their stuff always had a certain genuine tinge of madness to it that wasn't contrived like so much of the later "alternative" stuff was. I'm not a fan of the Strays album, it is good musically but it doesn't have the mind-numbing psychedlic-atmospheric-psychopath-raw power of the 91 and earlier stuff.

Last Saturday Evening was broaden my horizon again. The 3 Days DVD was starting Let-It-Be-ish. There was a cold blanket over the first performances of the band. And the editing of the DVD sucks. They should have left the N)**a out. But, every minute progressing, its getting better and warmer all the time. I watched and listened to the whole thing twice, and i wished i would have bought this 10 years ago. Most of the songs I recognized from old underground radio tapes i recorded. The band was just sparely released in the Netherlands/Europe.  I even found some mono recorded tapes from AFN. (American Forces Network). These are the coolest, while mono, the station did put tons of compression in the tracks while broadcasting. I tried to burn the DVD on CD, but the signal is just horrible. Tonite will hook up new Equillizer and Compressor/Limiter and see what i can do. The old 3days stuff you posted is way cool. THAT should be on DVD or preferably CD. Grunge will be my thing forever, since it broke up the crappy dance top 40's in Europe during the late 80's , and one could listen to some guitar bands again. I understand you disliking the Stray album, it's not JA pure. But that was one of the first albums officially (can you believe that)  released overhere so... Thanks for directing me Figment.
Now i have to buy some Merchandise from JA. To keep the wardrobe up to date Grin
