Anyone have pictures they can post of their set-up. Trying to decide whether to risk the ticket or put on the front plate.
Thanks,
Rob

I'd risk a ticket have been running around for 6 month with no plate. I have only been picked up once and that was by the french getting on a ferry crossing to EBI

I'd leave it off. You've only got two options for hanging a plate on the front...off the hood handle or two "L" shaped brackets screwed on under the front apron. A third would be to use a cross bar between your T-Bars. I've survived for years without a front plate...that being said, I'll probably get nailed this weekend.

Hey Sarge, I keep thinking the same thing. I didn't run a front with the bumpers for the last 10 years so why change now.
I'm just thinking about the time when I get caught. Some times the police here make you come to the station to show that you have installed the plate. At least they did when I had my first bug, got off with a warning. Touch wood I won't need it.
Anyway, I think the fine for no bumpers is bigger than no front plate.
As for the wine - I like the big reds the best, just call me ol'red tooth. I think it's K-roc who get's the headaches.

You could always use the " it's just fallen off officer " routine, worked for me for years!! keep the front plate inside the car just in case..

I was stopped by the cops this WE (simple routine check). First thing they said was "You know you have to put on a front plate even if it's an oldtimer, don't you...?" Yes I know bla bla bla apologies bla bla bla... Registration was OK, chassis numer was OK, insurance was OK, fire extinguisher was OK (I have 2), safety kit was OK, so they just let me go with a nice "Have a nice day sir".
I say risk the ticket. Front plate with T Bars looks ugly anyway...

I´m using rubber lined p-clamps. Still looks crap with the plate on the car of course, but at least I can take it off in 20sec...

On my Cal look Ghia, I zip tied the front license plate to my passenger side sun visor. It worked once or twice but I eventually got the ticket.

when i used to have a vw that i actually drove, my old 66 beetle with a USA style plate on the rear & no front plate, i always kept a brand new set of english plates under my seat.....so if i got pulled i could say i've just picked them up and i'm off home to put them on.
never got pulled in 3 years though.....

When I ran t-bars on my '67, I used the round tubes that used to be the upper bumper brackets to hold the plates. Used some large fender washers and bolted them through the drain holes in the spare tire well.
