This probably doesn't help, but in a very early Volksworld, not issue1, but maybe 2/3/4/5-ish?
There was (possibly! Haha) a feature about a USA/So-Cal show.... There was a photo of an incredibly shiny beautiful dark blood red/burgundy beetle with, I think, polished Fuchs... definitely Resto-Cal style, but I always recall how nice the paint was....all my mags are packed away after a house move otherwise I'd have a look.... Ring any bells with photographic memory types??
Here is Patrick Friel's car from '07. The color is 1959 beetle only L358 Garnet Red.

Patrick was the perfect owner for my old car.
That was my car back when Buddy Hale painted it Red.
First time in the booth I had Buddy paint it a nice vintage VW brown that looked like UPS brown.
After seeing it in all its brown glory, we decided to paint it Garnet red right away before it was assembled.
Buddy was very helpful on the restoration and the immediate color change from brown to red too.
here's link to some Porsche Burgundy colors.

Mike, how many inches were taken out of the seat frames on this car? Were the tracks in the stock location or moved to the rear?
Btw, always liked the cars you built, especially the tomato.
