Hi guys,
Just purchased a 71mm Tony Mance Crankshaft. I did a quick google search and they seem to be a real quality crank. Anyone got any real life experiences from them?
I plan to run mine with 94's (1971cc) for a lovely street motor for the 69 bug.

There is a 82 mm Mance crank in the green car and is still in it today. It's been in the motor sense 1983. Never any problem. Never reground. Only a couple polishes. I have also used many of Tony's cranks in different motors I have built. Great cranks!!! Dave Rhoads

I've been running a "gifted" (Doug Mische) 78.4 Mance in my rig since 1998 with nary a problem... a good, solid piece. The rods are clearanced OEM VW, the pistons are 90.5b's... 2017cc. It's an easy motor to put together that makes good power. Don't forget to add an Engle 125 and some stock OEM rockers with OEM 911 Porsche adjusters and you'll never have to touch the engine again!

My combo is almost the same as sarge. Except 82 crank with 88 pistons and an Engle 130 but with Scat 1.25 pro rockers. Most of the time it had the same rocker setup as Sarge. Only the last year I had the car it had the Scat rockers. Very reliable motor and hardly touched it. Raced it everywhere. The motor never broke. Dave Rhoads

One of the nicest guys in the world with one of the most outstanding reputations for making XLNT. cranks back in the day. Dont worry as long as it has been under good care and ownership.

ran a 69 counterweighted in a street car for awhile, 7300 rpm starts daily, street raced the hell out of it, mid 13's 1756 in the early eighties and then ran an 82mm in my street 2275, 190 hp at 7550rpm. would use another one in a heartbeat.

Hey, 71 x 94 is the same size as a Type 4 2.0L (914/bus) engine, I am curious what HP this will give in a type 1 engine. Keep us posted. Regards Edgar
