Found these pictures and thought I would share them with the lounge for a good laugh.  It is actually pre-DKP II, in 1974.  The other picture is after it was put back together at a VW meet in Solvang, CA. [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Great photos, although heartbreaking at the time.

Frenchy

Hahaha! Good one Frenchy!

I stood still at a red light, slightly uphill, with my old 69 looker. The Volvo 245 estate in front of me started to slowly roll backwards toward my front. My horn did not work so I had to roll bakwards as well in order to avoid the car touching. That worked until I did not have more room and the car touched approx at the same time as the light went green and the Volvo driver decided to find the throttle. It would have had a happier ending if it was not for the tow hitch that was under my front plate between the fenders.

Fabs,

Questions are fine.....ask away.  The big wheels were 15" with the offset different from front to rear (see the pic in the OP).  I always liked the idea of being different and personalized.  I fashioned my car after some of the gasser race cars of the time.....plexi-glass windows, roll bar, trunk spray interior, no rear seat, buggy bumpers, ect.  This approach was cheap and affordable, as most of us didn't have lots of money back then.  Here are a couple interior pics.

The engine was a 1700, eagle 120 cam, 42mm webers, competition exhaust.

thanks, Hoopty

The gauges came from John Lazenby's car.  Harvey got the rims and I got the gauges.
