I finally got this home to the garage a couple of week ago.
Both my kids will be at uni as from September and I hoping to get stuck into this over the winter.
The bottom of the chassis is junk as is the rear and will be replaced with mild steel tube. Not only are the chassis rails to low in relation to the height the body needs to be to clear the wheels but the steel used to construct the floor is the wrong size to be able to get a MSA certification.
I was lucky enough to be able to measure a ron lummus chassis at the weekend ( thanks lee) which gave me a few basic measurements to work from. The five inch narrowed axels I have will work and I have now sourced some 5 1/2 erco style rear wheels with standard vw offset which I will be using with 6" slicks. This rear set up gives me about 1" clearance on each side against the bodywork when sat stationary. The very tapered shape of the body doesn't allow for anything wider. A Ladder bar rear end is my intention but may require a bit of head scratching to fit in the lenght required.
I am undecided on the the final front suspension, it currently runs a custom vw style front beam which is a little over 500mm wide. Vw discs and 13" wheels. I may look at doing something different up front but I think the 13" wheels will stay not because of any other reason than again room is very limited.
I now have most of the parts to make project this a reality and will be selling off some of the bits that came with the car I no longer need.
Here are a few photos of the project as it sits. There is a lot of work ahead so I will be posting a few over the coming months.
Regards Ron

Any progress?
I need inspiration to keep my own build moving
I hauled my 600 back home to my
heated
garage this weekend.. (maybe that will help getting something done).
