Hello all

I have typ3 with automatic transmission, when I installed the engine back I realized that as I was torquing the bellhousing bolts the engine started to seize. Method used -please correct me- was to install the converter on the gearbox, kept  it there with some help of small bits between the converter and the bellhousing to keep it in line, then I introduced the engine until the driveplate attached to the converter. When I introduced the converter I tried to rotate it until the splines could come in line, also I put the pump rod the furthest possible inside. Do i miss probably something here that keeps my converter from entering more? when I untorque the bolts it starts to move freely again, please help before I scrap the whole thing!

Wow!!!
Go easy there . You are going to damage parts this way
First you have to put the converter all the way in the transmission
Then turn it by hand and push it home .it has 3 clics or splines to centre.
1st pumprod 2nd inputshaft 3rd stator
If you push and turn it about 15 turns you wil hear a hollow clunk then you are there
Then check the converter pilot and your crank if the match
Auto s dont have needle bearing.
Then slide them together bij hand
If correct you can push the engine and box against eachother with no force
Then turn the nuts
If it fits correct you wil have play between converter and flexplate
And you can turn the converter bij hand easy
Remember that with a 003 auto the inputshaf is loose in the case
Also check that one slide and turn it home in the case .

I am working on one right now
So if questions feel free to ask

Good luck

good advice above, make sure everything is aligned as it should, don't force anything or you could bend a shaft or worse damage the pump inside
