After 3 years and 1 month of working almost every single day (after my day job), and doing all the work on my own, by myself, without ever having done anything like this before, and not knowing how to weld, do body work, or spray paint,...I've finally "finished" my '67 Resto-Cal looker
Its been a dream build for over 30 years, and I've finally been able to follow through at the ripe old age of 55 ;D
Wow that's an awesome looking job. Congratulations!!
Do you have a build thread to share?
Also it's RHD but it looks like you're in the US?
Marc

Thanks for the compliment :)
I don't have a build thread here on theSamba, but i do have the whole 3 year process documented on my Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/odysseygarage/
She is a RHD, and was always a RHD from the factory :)
I'm located in Cape Town, South Africa. Our VW factory here built about 3800 units of the 1500cc version of the '67 (ball joint/disc breaks up front), and a lot more units of the 1300cc (link pin/drum brake) version. The one I have is the latter, and she still has the original unopened 1300 motor from the factory ;D
You'll notice that our '67s still had the sloped headlights from the previous year model, unlike the US spec SB12 flat headlights. Most of the other "one year only" attributes still apply though, with a few exceptions.
I think the fact that you thought this is a US car is because I intentionally built it to emulate the Cal-Look cars I grew up seeing in VW Trends and HotVWs magazines ;) . . . hence the Gene Berg license plate frame, the Berg shifter, etc.
If anything, the fact that you thought my car was a US car is huge compliment ;D and an indication that I might have "done it right" ....lol
