Proof they don't work better than Type 1 tins.

"Important note:
The new deflector plate must not be installed on Type 1 or Type 2
engines because it would reduce the cooling effect on these engines."

Type 3 engines have the air coming across horizontally from the rear to the front. Type 1 have it coming from the top. So think about it.

You can get them at VW classic too, part numbers are 126 119 461 and 126 119 462.
