Nice job! This conversion makes the Vanagon more tolerable. Very popular in Oz and NZ. Do you have any photos of the top side?

That thing is badass! There's a guy up here with a late 80s Sychro double cab. He paid over $30,000 for it in Canada.  Shocked

Wink I'm just bitter because my '70 has had the rear bumper mounts, valance, bodymounts, rear outer quarter panels, rear crossmembers, door-post bottoms, front flitches and valance all replaced because of the standard of repairs being so bad! Oh, and I've replaced the complete floorpan, because both panhalves had been replaced badly, and I've freed up and re-welded the replacement heater channels too. Just the front bulkhead to replace, then I can get on with getting the doors replaced (both of those were too badly repaired to use...) Shocked Cheesy

Now, if this was an AC Cobra, or a D-Type Jaguar, you'd keep all the old bits and create a new car out of them, claiming it to be an original! Grin

Cheesy Yes, but it would have to be stamped "Made in Denmark" - it's all old repair panels that I've cut out and replaced! Cheesy

>Volkswagens you don't like

Pretty much all Volkswagens that didn't leave the factory with 5x205 bolt pattern, later but non 1302/03 'Vert or Karmann (until '70) would cool to own too. I like the design of Split Screen Bus but not sure whether I would like to own one. I am probably getting old since the early Bay Window buses are starting to look okay  Huh Tongue Undecided

Someone mentioned brand loyalty, I got interested in Volkswagens because of Resto Cal or Cal Look (Beetles) and the design of Vintage Volkswagens, I don't really see a connection there to modern Golf nor 70/80/90's watercooled shitboxes.. Modern Volkswagen is just like any other modern car, way to move you from place A to place B without any special feeling.
