Why is that the ultimate Cal-Look year? What make that better than a 66 or a 68 (besides opinions on irs)? I cant really tell a big difference between those particular years. Is it just me?

Basically the '67 is probably the most unique Beetle... there were more one year only and last year or first year parts than any other year

What Rick said - it's more unique looking than any other year, especially the US spec with the upright lamps and long bonnet. And it was the current model when cal look really started to kick off.

First year for 12 volt electrics and two speed wipers, 1500cc engine, standard seat belts. Last year for bumper orverrides, small taillights, horn grills, plus lots unique to 67 parts that make owning one extra fun. Actually, I guess I have one becuause it's what I was able to buy at the time ($50, from my uncle, when I was 12). My uncle bought mine in '69 or '70, though, and said he only wanted a '67 because it was the "best year".

all jokes aside
they looked at the type3's of 66 and copied them as good as possible for the beetle in 67.

Can anyone list all the unique features of a 67 or has this been covered in a different thread . im reallly thinking of the US Spec bugs. Would be interesting to find out.
Like I have heard the front hood is different but why is it different to any other earlier long hood ?

The difference between a '67 hood and a '66 and earlier hood is the thin chrome trim on the '67. I'm a '67 pervert. I have a stash of spare '67 only parts such as wiper motors, brake fluid resevoirs, door handles, decklids, etc. Every time I run across a '67 in the junkyard I am both happy and sad.

See.. this is what im talking about
. So much passion over the 67. To me , a cal look bug is a cal look bug. Super beetles are an exception because they look a little different. But to me, you could make a super beetle a cal looker too. The heart of the car being the big motor out back. The other important factor being the stance. Also, all of the important factors to making your 67 a true 67. Like the trims and the bumpers or any other 67 only parts. The 67's I see, have alot of that stuff removed or changed to be a true "Cal Looker". So whats the real reason for owning one? Just to say you have one? Alot of people who own a 67 dont even know whats unique about it. They just know that its a unique car. Not trying to ask stupid questions. Im just curious.
