i drove my bug a lot this summer, even 800km in one week... now that was a great feeling!

In my opinion you can not compare driving a standard bug with 1300 engine to a real cal-looker with big IDA engine ...
Is totally NOT the same !!!

i agree on the engine, hopefully that will change soon...
but i don't consider my bug standard, i know you saw me at Budel (if you did realize who i was) but that's not what my bug looks like anymore these days.

n.b. we all gotta start somewhere  ::) and some need to save before they invest  ;)

Dokke/DFL:
Everybody have to save first ... but this is not the issue.
It's about if true cal-looker are built to drive or not.

And my opinion still says that true cal-lookers are built to drive, but to drive 800 km each week, I don't know ...
But driving 800 km each week with a standard ( semi standard ) beetle is really OK. But it's different, believe me.
I have 2 beetle's which both have the look of a cal-looker, but the beige one has a standard engine with 2 single carbs which
my wife use it for daily driver and the blue one has bigger engine with IDA. I don't use the blue one for daily driver.
Trust me, it's totally different ...

if I have my engine ready my car will come to the bug-in by its own power!
1250km each way that's nothing   8)

as for putting it on the strip...well, is that original 64 box going to hold? We'll have to try  ;D ;D
