today nicolas and i  have purged the brake line , now the brake drums work well  ,

we go for a ride in the 61 to test the brake  , the engine turn well , but when we go on the street no power/boost , the engine sound like  on 3 cylinders , we return to the house , to check the plugs wires , but no problem , we have check the ignition , nothing , may be the carbs

nicolas can you explain to the other the problem may be You will better know how to explain that I

yes but john 've disc brake at the front and maybe the hub  on the disc are machined one , mine are original one and i need one for the speedo cable

no one 've an idea about that Huh
iginition is good , plugs wires  give the power to the spark plugs  , the engine turn well when he does'nt drive and we're on the road he sound like  of an engine which turns on 3 cylinders
When I moved the engine, I moved the linkage without touching the regulation of  this one, nor in regulations of carburettors Huh
 keith can you help me Huh i suppose that you know the sprintkit , you're mr speedwell in england  Grin

With those tires, it wouldn´t hurt with a 2-3cm lowering in the rear. IMVHO.

the front is good for me  but the rear will be better a little bit lower

allright, so i have been asked to help out with the brakes and that went good. JS is right it will need to be a bit lower at the rear, but the car has to settle first, allthough i doubt it will drop enough to get the stance just right.

but the biggest issue was indeed the engine.

i am not sure how sensitive these sprintkits are, but the engine wasn't happy, that is for sure. like fabs said the engine was turning OK at idle but as soon as you got going the car bogged and lost all power. it felt like a plugged idle jet or a distributor that was incorrectly set, but i havent any clue on how to adjust those britisch carbs. i have got some info from Fabs but part off it was missing (speedwell fitting instructions and they refer to pamlphlet G 66/SB211 which i haven't found and makes things even worse. so any help on these carbs is welcome)
we tried to set the distributor right, but that didn't change anything the lack off power under load stayed. i wish i could have worked on the engine longer, but i had other things to do, so hopefully your input can help Fabs out.

Sounds very much like an air leak guys - I know there are a number of "sealing" surfaces involved in these kits/manifolds - Just a thought guys  Smiley

 I also have think about air leaks and try to locate it by spraying "start Pilote" where the carbs seals on the manifold and don't notice an idle variation.

Engine start easily and idle well but revs lazily.

Why only "service" or "defuse" ONE carb  Huh I would have just serviced the PAIR just to be on the safe side  Smiley

I still think it sounds like an air leak Undecided Smiley OR it might be worth checking the fuel pump - your one can be disassembled and "serviced" OR "defused" Wink

Fuel comes correctly, there is a clear filter and you see that it flows regularly.
We serviced just one because it became late and were hopping for an improvement. Bad luck  Tongue

I'm also more thinking about an air leak. The right carb makes a "good" noise, but the left carb makes a different one.

I would suggest removing both carbs, manifolds, balance tube etc - Clean ALL sealing surfaces (also clean out the left carb properly) then refit everything with a SMALL amount of silicon sealant  Smiley

That's the way we will take.  Wink

Today, some people also suggest to check a leak at the fuel pump.

I also wonder how to check the float level on this carbs? Needle valves are 1.5 but I don't know how to check if the carbs have the same float level? Same method as weber? And which height?

For the sealant I normally use a stick, like that.
