After 16 years with this car, it's time to let it go. Undecided I simply never drive it. A new project is on the horizon..

Hey lanny again a very very nice car! I don't know about you but when there done there done, And you probably had two or three cars already built in your head by the time you had your 67 finished. The next one will even be more cutting edge than the last, Keep up the good work and guys like you keep this hobby fresh!

wow! i can't believe it as it is such a nice car. the only thing that could ever be done to make it better is to dechrome it  Grin, so i guess this car is indeed pretty perfect in it's concept.
but i can understand it as it is all done, so if you have a new project that could mean a new challenge and hopefully that will come out as nice as this one.

good luck (and make it a dechromed one)

Lanny,

We've all been where you are at. I stated I would never sell mine too but things come up and change takes place.  The beauty of it all is you can create another masterpiece like the brown car!  I never thought I would sell the attached 67 either. It ended up paying for my wife's new kitchen cabinets and remodeling.  She was definitely more important than the car.

If I re visited all of the memories, I'd surely hang on to it. Old girlfriends Wink..club cruises to Seattle, driving it to The Classic in 97, again in 2000 and 2007, first '12', first 'wheels up' etc.. Smiley

Lanny,
This should scare you.

My daughter Katie has my dad's '68 to drive!!! She really only drives it on weekends, but you know how much my dad loved that car.

Should you keep it I'm sure she will appreciate it Wink

KEEP THE CAR, Lanny. That's one sweet ride. Put it away in storage if you don't want to drive it. Just don't do what I did and sell something that you're going to regret later on.

Funny, I was just reading that issue of Ultra VW (Feb. '08) with your car, today.

You may be right Fred. I'm taking it out to a local show with my son tomorrow. We'll see how I feel after driving it for a few hours in the sun. Sure would like to avoid any regrets. I've had the most interest from overseas, I guess the currency conversion is appealing. Bill, at least your dads car won't see any rain.. Smiley BTW, T2, not a chance.. Wink

AWESOME! Glad to hear that, Lanny. See this little orange '66 below? That's been my regret since 1985. Learn from my mistake. HAHA!!

At any rate, have fun with your son and car this weekend.

Lanny,

I agree with everyone. To this day, selling my teal green 67 is one of my bigger regrets.  It all went to a great cause but I wish I had unloaded something else first.

I knew that would come up. The last time I had the boat out, we had 4 adults and 4 kids in it. Try fitting 2 tall parents and 2 children in car seats in a Beetle. Wink  I had a quote to build a 20'X20' garage behind my house..80-100K! That's where the $ would go..ouch. Damn 2010 Olympics! I am on the prowl for a 67 Squareback, that's next..PEPTO!

a 67 squareback for your car? where do we make the exchange?

no seriously a square is really, really cool, but i would advice against doing that. can't really think off one squareback being as cool as your car... (even with the trim  Grin)
