Fitted a mallory hyfire to my car with a pertronix doo dad in the 050 dizzy, but i'm getting no spark at all, if I bypass the hyfire and run the dizzy as is it fires straight up, no problem so I know the coil, pertronix etc are ok.

Now I'm not the worlds greatest when it comes to electronics but i'm pretty sure that I've got it wired correctly as per fig 17 of the instruction manual
http://www.jegs.com/InstallationInstructions/600/650/650-685.pdf

but if someone has any bright ideas as to why it doesn't work of if I've got it wired incorrectly i'd be glad to hear from them.

There are a few things that i'm going to try when i get home from work including checking for voltage drop from the ignition switch to the mallory box ( it's mounted on the rear firewall), false triggering the mallory to discharge directly from the coil to see if theres a wiring fault between the mallory and dizzy and shouting at it until it gives up and works.

All the lights and functions work including the tach test but no spark.  Huh

I'd like to get to the bottom of this asap as I'm hopefully taking the car to gary's picnic next weekend for the first thrash of the new improved engine. If all else fails I'll rip the whole lot out and post it back to the states for a refund...

cheers

andy

bernie,

I've done a continuity test on the earth of the unit and the engine block etc and everything seems fine, I'm just about to head into the garage and have a go at figuring it out,

If he has wired the ignitor module as magnetic pick up it won't work.
he needs to connect the ignitor- (black) to the green wire and the ignitor +(red) to 12v ignition switch.

just thought if he rang that I could ask him how he's wired it first as he may be already correct.

hope he sort's it

cheers james.

p.s roll on friday! Cool
