I was curious if any of the DKP cars will be displaying their cars or any other VW at the GNRS in Pomona on the 27 th to 30 th January 2011. Hopefully I will se some VW people there. I remember a few years ago my son and I went to the 75 anniversary of the 32 and I remember talking to Sarge as the DKP club had at least 10 VW's on display between the main building.

Well great news today I was accepted in the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona. I feel like having my first VW to the Classics for the first time.

   Thanks

I spoke to Rick Meredith last week about this.

Might be a possibility of some DEEKS attending.

Frenchy,

I had no doubt you would get in.  I would not be surprised if you also win something as your car is very well done and unique, with all the special touches of a hot rod era it represents.  I look forward to hearing about how you do.

Frenchy, in which building will you be displaying your '32?

Here is a picture of the DKP gang in 2007. Actually, we didn't participate in the Grand National itself (held inside 8 buildings), but just the "Drive-In" event, on one of the days (outside the buildings). It was an OK experience... The promoter weren't really interested in VWs, or so it seems. We entered dead last and they stuck us in one of the corners of the fairgrounds.

Yet, we all enjoyed being there, especially when visiting the building that hosted the 75 "most significant" 1932 Fords ever built. (2007 marked the 75th Anniversary of the '32). It was just mind boggling. I doubt we'll be able to see such a quality show ever again.

     Stephan

I think that they are going and put me in the Suede Palace. I have to make my extension to go around the car as the one shown in the picture you posted as well as a piece of carpeting. I will have mirrors under the car so everyone can see the detail I have done.

    Thanks

Best of luck Frenchy!  I enjoyed looking / watching the progress of you building this car (among other vw's as well) on your website.  I hope you win an award at the show that would be great. Jeff

Congratulations Frenchy! Have a great time at the show.

Stephan, do you have anymore pictures of cars in the '32 anniversary hall? Might be a good thread for the off topic section.

Seems like just the other day but it's been four years!  One of the top five trips ever taken with DKP.  Frenchy, you'll be in hog heaven at the Suede Palace... loads of nice "scenery" and um, cars to ogle, I mean look at Grin  May see you Friday.  I posted these pics years ago... the last roll of film in the AE-1 before buying a digital.  The battery in the camera chose this particular day to take a crap and these were the only pics I got Cry

Well I got news that they were planning for me to have my car outside of the building which I am not to happy with having it outside for 4 days. If this is the case I will cancel out for this year and schedule for next year show.
