Title: rear suspension set up for N/A
Post by: bedjo78 on May 01, 2018, 11:44:36 am
I have problem getting proper grib on non prep track . mostly  the track is just  city road asphalt or same time run way of old airport.
Bug is N/A 250 HP 700 kg . rear end  5" narrow. 5" rise torsion housing, 1" tranny bracket. 30mm sway away.  QA1 dobel adjustable.  slick 9" wide x 26 tall. I have tried different setting for the shock . but still car feel floating around especially first and second gear. reduce the compression to minimal and half of rebond is what I feel best way.

prior this set up I had 3" rear rise rear housing with 3" tranny bracket. + Koni gas shocks and seem working better than it is now but still it was spinning hell.
I redo rear suspension to get better grib, So spring plate angle close to zero instead of negatif angle previously.  But result is worst :(
Suspension is look to stiff not weight transfer

May be stock diameter torsion bar with compression adjustment will work

some thing wrong with mine

please share your suspension set up and experience with non prep track.

Have you got a clip of when you leave the line. You could do a slow mo version to see what the off the line take off is like.
Does it squat, does the front lift. 30mm bars are very stiff.

Besides the input from Garrick:
There is a lot of input in this equation.
-Rear tire pressure
-Clutch setup
-Front end height
-Start RPM

It did not squat. Seem to be too ridgid. I lowered compression button softest.
The previous set up the torsion bar was pointing down ro torsion bar . It been likw that for years and i was thinking to set spring plate almost horizontal. And added QA1 double.
Been playing with set up but no luck.

My plan is to dismantle everything and check piece by piece might something stiff

I use mcleod with BM . Rrar tire i been playing from 8 to 12. Event with 8 car feel no grip spinning all the way 201 mtr.
Front and rear of car almost the same. Rear higher higher 1 inch

I would remove the 30 mm bars and the shocks for some softer ones. Is there ANY downward movement on the rear if you press on it.

Next couple of weeks i will remove the 30 bars. And replace with stock one. I will trys to compensate soft bar with compression adjusment.

Do you have the downward travel limited? Swap to the soft torsion, increase the compression dampening & add bump stops.

there is a limit strap that set 2 inch below from ride height.

I will try softer torsion bars
