Any physics gurus here that can explain this to me?
My guess history wise is that the street boys looked at the gassers at the time and just mimicked what they did...
But is it just a look thing or what?

Back in the day i presume that if you built a full tilt race car and drove it on the street....it sort of resambles a race car. All race cars at that day had lowered fronts, opposite to the "normal" gassers of the same time that had raised fronts to raise center of gravity and add to the hook of the car as it came of the line. Anyway knowledge was high and experimenting was legio. I think that Inch Pincher one set a lot of the pace though...the front end just got lower and lower as time went. UnderDog and Dirty Dave Vanderberke are two more examples of gassers with street chassies making wheelies and went quick on the quarter mile. Just rambling a bit about the issue.......

Well rambelings is much better than nothing...  But the fact remains.. how to hotrod still claims that you should go with a taler front than rear..   Lips Sealed

I think that is because of the caster, and to get rid of positive camber wich really make a car unstable in higher speeds.
Just a little bit negative or 0 camber makes a big difference compared to positive camber.
Also stated in How to hotrod, GET A CAMBER COMPENSATOR! only problem I don't like the new ones. Better make my own..

It could ave something to do with aerodynamics...if that was invented back then  Wink A lower front will decrease amount of air slipping underneath the car, decreasing lift from the ground. The lower nose will also give the car a more streamlined shape.

Guys...you`re all far out here! The reason for our low noses is very simple and very logical;  you rake your car so that you constantly need to hold both hands on the steering wheel  keeping you from slipping out of the seat. This way you`re constantly on the alert and awake and have both hands on the wheel which is safe according to the "rules"   Cheesy
