Reminds me of some of the orange grove cruises in Vittone's '56 bug back in the old days....no paved roads and sometimes lots of mud!  Grin  Nice book!!

I've owned this book for bout 10 years or more. The D'Ieteren family were the VW importers in Belgium whose factory assembled VWs in the 1950s, as well as Studebakers – they also built 356 Roadster bodies for Porsche. Somewhere I have a photo in my files of Studebakers and Beetles alongside each other on their assembly line. VERY cool book.

The last photo shows the beetle has tire chains. And he still needs help getting out of the mud. Must be very sticky and deep.
