That magenta car was inspiration for me when I was building my first Cal-Look car back in the mid 80's.  So, where did these cars go?  They were sooo clean, surely they didnt end up doing daily duty and getting destroyed?

Another cool thing about all these old pictures is the random cars in the background. The second picture in the series that shubee posted above has a dechromed, 67 with chromies. That car looks killer!! Anyone remember that car. It almost looks like deano's 67.

An article about "details", as seen at some Bug-Ins.
And finally an article about VW drag racing.
I'm sure I have more articles... Gotta check the archives.

I noticed that car too!  Made me think of changing the color of a future '67 project I dream about.   Roll Eyes

I was just looking through this thread and noticed that this car was using a windshield washer reservoir as a breather box !
Definitely "light weight" !

Well, I went downstairs and took this out of the frame that it's been in since 1981 to scan it. Thought that it would be rather fitting on this thread.

We had three or more cars on the cover and a lot of 'em inside this issue. Looks like Kevan Wood on the left, me in the middle, and Bob Davis on the right.

You can also see Dustin's Brother-In-Law's Ghia with the Centerlines on the right.

God I miss seeing Mike's car around So Cal. That was my favorite chop-top. We had a nice red one in D.K.K. as well. Kevin (forgot his last name). He was a production manager at 106.7 KROQ FM radio... back when they actually played real punk and other good music. Pre-Emo gay 'tard fecal matter.

KROQ? Bollocks! They were always mainstream! I had a buddy that was a DJ there, Roland West, caved in for the big bucks [sic], before that he was at KNAC which was a genuine  "alternative radio" station. I could tell you stories about the fun Roland and I used to have on air. We still keep in touch, he was my best man when I got married over in Italy, and last year when he got married [again] and I came out to Frisco for that. He's no longer an "on-air" guy, he's now the west coast promotional rep for Island Def Jam. Still a rocker though.

Jeff, I remember when you and McNew were roommates in the Shore... and also recall when you practically lived at the old KNAC 105.5 FM back when it was NOT a lame heavy metal station. Perhaps I wasn't concise enough; I meant to say that KROQ DID start out very good in the way of starting off unheard of music and bands. But that was only during the first couple of years. You're right, they became mainstream rather quickly after their birth, sadly. I still have one unused KNAC sticker.

In keeping with this thread, here are a few of my Cal Look business cards that I've had since the early '80s.

The D.V.B. card was given to me by Susie (Herbert) way back then. See, Susie? Told ya I still kept it after all of these years.

 Grin

Dustin, you were in D.V.W. wouldn't that be a trip if you were the one that gave me that one? I can't remember how I got it. I do remember Mike from D.S.S.K. They were based in the South Bay area, I think. Cool bunch of people and cars.

Long live Rodney Bingenhiemer! Also, Remember being able to pick up 91X on a good day? They were similar to the original  KNAC.

Back to topic... No Mark, I didn't give you that card. Because my car was far from club worthiness, I was more of a attender than a member. I was at most of the meetings (beer consumption) and functions. I lived vicariously through my brother in law, helping him build his ghia, and then later a pretty fun baja that we beat the hell out of for years!

We had 2 chops in our club but I think Mike's car was finest chop I've ever seen.
