Title: Setting Plastic Floats in 48 IDA's
Post by: Richierich56 on May 27, 2018, 23:31:44 pm
I'm sure this is a straight enough one but just want to check...on investigation, one of the floats in my 48 IDA's has a little fuel inside it (doesnt sound or feel a lot but there has obviously been a breach though I cannot find any hole or anything) and obviously the new floats that are available now for 48's are plastic.....would you think it would be fine to replace the one and have one brass and one plastic or replace the both to be 'equal'?? I'm assuming they will have exactly the same dimensions and weights etc.

I had something similar and replaced both with new plastic ones just to be sure. No issues since then.

Ok, good enough for me. Thanks Diederick.

So, I'm going to replace both floats in the 48's with new genuine plastic ones and would I be correct to assume all the same measurements apply regarding setting them as for the brass ones? I would guess this to be the case as they should weigh the same etc as the brass but just want to be sure if anyone has the definitive answer. Cheers

Yes, I installed them as per Weber spec. And they've worked great ever since.
