Hi Guy's

I am collecting parts to build a 2,4ltr Oxyboxer. Cool
Here's the plan;
WBX case....check
Porsche 100mm nickies....check
2.1 crank (76,4mm)....check
heads (trying to use split-ports)....check
Scat 5.5" H-beams with 23mm small-end....check (rod ratio 1.83:1)
Turbo....check (probably to small)

The next parts I need are cam, cam gears and lifters. should I use straight cut?, must I buy cam and lifters as a combo?

Paul.

Straight cuts are only really needed when you go to chevy size valve springs, you can mix cam and lifter manufacture but it is better to source them from the same companie unless you are sure they are compatible

Thanks Richie,

Is it better (when not needed) to use normal gears, or is straight cut always useable?

Yes because the $$$ you save on gears could be spent on something that actually makes you more hp.

It gets old fast.

Two years ago I split the case for a friend to change the gears... i was sick of the noise.g

Or they can't be bothered by opening the case to change the cam bearings because the cam bearing thrusts are gone. Which happen much faster depending on spring pressure (needed for whatever reason)

Okay so I am still thinking about using the straightcuts cause I think I need some real spring pressure as I want to run a lot of boost. Is it true that when boost increases the springpressure should be more to keep the valves from floating?

Sorry to highjack your thread Paul Wink

Yes,I have found that boost affects the spring pressure needed, for your engine you will need enough spring pressure to need dual thrust cam bearings &straight cut gears
