Title: Raising Transmission
Post by: Eddie DVK on February 08, 2013, 12:08:36 pm
How high can you raise your transmission before cutting your hole chassis?
For example is the 1" raise kit from Ron Lummus usable for this.

Everything is welcome, pictures of raises and the way it is done.

Eddie, I'm thinking of raising the gearbox in my new car, sbut I'll have to look a bit closer to see where cutting will be needed. Funnily enough, the KCW site has quite a bit of info in their forum about raised gearboxes!

I removed the side shelves and the strip under the package tray. At the same time I made my apron removeable and removed the channel for the seal.  No rear tin or breastplate,

The package tray just clears the bell housing.

Also, Empi style C channel valve covers won't fit over their studs. And a longer clutch arm will contact the package tray. And of course a bus nose cone to lower
the shift tube if you use a type 1 trans.

I used the bus nose cone, i had to trim the tunnel a little at the front of the  inspection plate

My long clutch arm dosen't hit. I hear cars vary a fair amount, how much the frame horns are bent.

I used the deluxe iron kit.
