Title: Clutch disc choices... Post by: bugnut68 on December 31, 2010, 02:27:26 am Just wondering what clutch disc to use with my 2017cc combo (42x37.5mm valves), dual 45 Dells , 8.5:1 comp, lightened 12 lb flywheel, 1-5/8" exhaust. I've heard some say a stock disc works good with a Stage 1 KEP pressure plate, others recommended a Daikin disc. Just wondering what would be the best application for a street-driven car with occasional bracket-racing time at the local strip.

I ran one in my street car for a couple years. It is metal woven material on one side and 8 ceramic pads on the other. It runs around $100 but holds well with big motors. You can run a Stage One kennedy with it and it holds fine. You can see how well it holds with my burnoug on Ocean Street Videos under the burnout section.

Works fine. Title: Re: Clutch disc choices... Post by: javabug on December 31, 2010, 16:11:35 pm Daiken solid here also. KEP Stage II pressure plate. Run the heavier pressure plate and you don't have to go for an expensive clutch disc.

Post by: rick m on December 31, 2010, 17:32:43 pm Stage 2 clutches, unless you are running a hydralic clutch, will eventually wear out the hook inside the tunnel that is on the clutch arm or will break a stock clutch cable. Art's clutch with a stage one feels like a stock clutch pedal but will hold a lot of horsepower. I've run the heavier pedals but like the feel of the light tension on the pedal but still having the grapping power of the BERG or the ACE type discs.

For your street driven car, Ryan, you only need a stage 1. Anything more will make you hate the car, wear out the hook up front, break cables, cause your clutch tube to break away from it's anchor points inside the tunnel. Title: Re: Clutch disc choices... Yeah, I've already got the Stage 1 pressure plate... just need to get a disc now is all. I figured from the start that a Stage 1 would be sufficient based on other peoples' combos I'd seen. |
