It was filmed by Claude Lelouch, with his own Mercedes 450 6,9l , driven by himself.

On wikipedia I found this...

"...
He (Claude_Lelouch) was arrested after his 1976 film, C'était un rendez-vous, reportedly at the time featuring a Ferrari 275 GTB being illegally driven at speeds approaching 140 km/h through the streets of Paris by a Formula 1 driver, was first shown publicly.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

OPS......

Recent claims made by the director himself, however, suggest he drove his own Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 in the film and dubbed the sound effects of a Ferrari 275GTB.

I didn't read that line because I thought it was the ferrari.....  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Parts of the video have been speeded up, for effect and to match the Ferrari engine sounds.
At one point the car approaches an airport.
You can see the rotating beacon at the aiport spinning much faster than normal.
Other than traffic violations the most impressive part of the video may be the editing, dubbed sound and increased frames per minute.
He made a 12 minute video into an 8 minute video with fake sound.  ;D
If I were going to run a bunch of stoplights I'd pick a big heavy car too.  ;)
Here's your real camera car, Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9.  :-[

edit, the dubbed sound really is off in the corners, the downshifts are way late, he flys in to the turns without downshifting.
Make no sense in the last half of a corner with the tires squealing, car loose and then downshift a couple of gears?

I've seen this at TV a while ago, if I rememember sounds were good. It's something I noticed several times on online-video players like youtube or google video, the sound an image don't fit correctly sometimes.

The euro Mercedes 450SEL with smaller bumpers.

I have watched this little so many times that I actually found my way to Montmartre by memory... but had to bend a few traffic rules to drive the exact same roads ;) ;D ;D
