WHAT'S UP WID DA BOOM BOOM???

« on: September 21, 2008, 20:32:22 pm »

Had our own “Cal-look Day” here in central Pennsylvania today.  A local club puts on a small show local to most of us each September, and we got some cars together for an invasion of sorts.

Met at a friend’s shop to organize and take care of last-minute details.

A quick stop for hot caffeinated beverages, we encountered this unusual sight:

The ride over was mostly foggy, so rolling shots didn’t work out, but there should be some video coming up shortly.  The group arrived on the scene loudly and took up residence in one of the rows reserved for modified watercooled cars.  Oh well…

Out of five cars, we had:
1.   An oval window
2.   A small-square window
3.   A ‘67
4.   A late-model
5.   A cabrio
6.   4.5”, 5.5”, deep-6”, and flat-6” Fuchs
7.   wide-5, 4-lug, and Porsche lug pattern
8.   IDFs, DRLAs, IDAs, and Kadrons
9.   Hurst and Berg shifters

Did we miss anything?   Cool

Sorry for the long post, and apologies if we bored anyone, but We had a great time, and can you ever get enough pics of Cal-look cars out pounding the pavement?

Yeah, It runs Flat 4 Enki's.  2110 With reworked CB CNC Oval ports, FK47 (I think) and Dellorto 48 Tri Jets and a close geared box. I'll get some more photo's this week. It is one of my all time favorite cars and it belongs to my friend Allen been on the road and driven hard for many years now.

That must be a really cool car !

No Flat4 produces Enkeis repros, but Enkeis had the slot-design like Ansens, Shelby Cal 500... A lot of 60s/70s wheel models had this design.

I've got more pics of each car, especially Allen's oval because I find it ultra-sexy.  I"ll post them a little later.  Figureed you could digest these first.   Grin

Two videos.  The in-car is pretty good for sound, the drive by is pretty rough, but better than nothing.

Allen's oval:

Larry's late model

John's euro '58

The Javabug, of course:

Maize's 'vert, because this car needs a little more exposure:

So now I realize I'm a dumbarse because I didn't really get any other detail shots of the cars.  Sorry, I'm learning.  Anyhow...

Those Ansens do look good on that car.  BTW, Enkei is teh company who is manufacturing these wheels for Flat-4, not the original manufacturer.

I agree that the Java machine has the look.  I havent seen it in person, but I dont think I would paint it.  Have you considered just buffing out the original paint and enjoying any rub through as patina?

Its actually an old respray, and parts of the hood and roof have so much texture that I think an attempt at buffing might just create a dusty, fuzzy white mess.  Thanks for the nice words, though.  If you come back out to the PCA swap at Hershey next April, Dave, you can check it out.

Thx for the info, so I guess Enkei did'nt produce them in the past.

I agree. I like everything on this oval !
