if i may, zach? ;)

here's a copy and paste from an older topic Little Engines That Could! (http://cal-look.no/lounge/index.php/topic,747.msg8015.html#msg8015)

1600cc, 110x1.25, 8.5:1, AJ Sims 044 40x35.5, 44idfs, 1 1/2" merge. In my light daily driver '67 bug went 14.8 @ 88mph. It is still running in my friends stock weight '67, we drove it to Drag Day (about 900 miles round trip) and averaged about 30mpg.

I used a 4.12 r=p, 3.80, 2.06, 1.48, 1.04.

you just have to make sure your 1.25s are really 1.25 and not more  ;)

It really was a great little motor. Someday I'll build a "clone".

With Kadrons, stock heads, 1.1:1 rockers, 1 3/8" header, and a stock ratio gearbox that little engine still did a 16.94 @ 75. If set up properly, and with a driver that has some good seat time, I don't see why you couldn't run a low 16 with 36idf's, good ported stock valve heads, and a stock ratio gearbox.

get the vw ones (with vw and audi logo) and you'll be fine. they are correct.

Zach you know how much hp it has that motor?
I would be curious to know how much it has mine of it 1600...(is my first non-stock motor)

When I sold that motor the 44's were swapped out for 40's with CB update kits and tall big beef manifolds in effort to improve low end torque. It then made 93hp with the belt on.

the scat ones will work as well. i just had the vw ones.

93hp for a streetdriven 1600 is real good btw.

Years ago, I ran my 130 w 125's as a daily driver. I asked Jack at Engle about the 125's ,because of all the comments in a certain catalogue, and he said you can run 125's safely on any W grind cam as long as your springs are set up correctly and your geometry is correct. I ran the Autocrafts, which lift a little less. I ran that combo for years and years with no trouble.
