More importantly Norway has a female Beach Volleyball team and the world tour comes to Stavanger from 28/06/2010 - 3/07/2010.

Ice hockey is one of the few winter sports Norway totally suck at, allways have and allways will.

But we are world champions when it comes to bragging about ourselves, so here we go: With a population of only 4.5 million, Norway is still the number one Winter Olympic medal winner of all times... http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/spo_win_oly_med_all_tim-winter-olympic-medals-all-time  :)

That had to come from a guy from Belgium

In Norway we have mountains to ski, fjords to swim and neighbouring countries to beat

 :)

BTW; congrats to the US guys for the three gold medals yesterdays. Mens....sorry.... kids half pipe, womens downhill and 1500 meters skating.

And again the Canadians organisers proved that they should never have got the olympic games. It`s been a row of small disaster from the opening ceremony to the ladies sprint yesterday.

And your point is? 1 more gold for Norway today - # 100 in total. You can be sure our media do whatever they can to cover up for the hopeless organisation of the games. but when even the TV crew can`t do their job properly it makes it difficult to hide - unfortunately.

The only interesting winter sport is hockey, and we (Norway) totally suck at it. But who cares about the Norwegian team anyways.
When it comes to winter sports in general the Norwegians are so full of themselves, can't stand it.

It will be really cool to follow the hockey tournament though. Canada has a really strong team this time, and under the leadership of Steve Yzerman and Mike Babcock what could go wrong? The defending champs Sweden don't really look to strong, but I hope they will do great as well (OK, I'm a Red Wing fan... ::).)

I don't think our team is as strong as you think.  Switzerland should have been an easy kill, but they proved to be a formidable foe, Crosby just barely taking the victory.  They've got good players, but they don't seem to be a team.
I think the Sweds are a team to watch.  Last Monday I bumped into the twins and Ohlun (?) out for a stroll on the seawall with a few others wearing green/blue.  With the twins you get one of the best lines in the league, not to mention the top goal scorer.  I'll be at their game tomorrow against the Fins.

Well, I think I have to admit you're partly right.  The vast majority of the people attending are having a great time.  Today I was walking around the Russian pavilion and I saw 4 Norwegians showing their colours.  One even had the Viking hat!  So I thought I would ask them what they thought.  At first he was hesitant to speak his mind, but I pushed for the truth.  His words: "Poorly organized, Lousy transportation, and terrible ticket distribution".  I have to agree on the last point.  The official web site to buy tickets is the worst site I have had to deal with.  The Viking's final words were that the pres of the IOC always gives a speech at the closing ceremony of every games, and he always proclaims this olympics as "the best ever".  The Viking said he won't say that this time.  We shall see.
The amount of people walking around the city are the most ever seen.  City officials say that today there were more than they ever expected.

Glenn, I wouldn't say "far from it".  The Canadian team has more experienced and older more established players and was heavily favored. So, I would call this a minor miracle, although compared to the 1980 USA team it's a distant 2nd.

Love the pic Eric....did anyone see the Canadian press is crucifying Broduer?  Talk about a tough crowd..he's only the best goalie statistically in the history of hockey....rabid those Canucks are...

And Glenn, I highly doubt the Canadian team threw the game due to their NHL status....all of the players are NHL on Canada and USA....but then again who knows what Bettman has up his sleeve......:D

Sorry if i implied that the game was fixed, it was not my intention. What I was attempting to point out is that both sides have highly paid professionals and many are team mates.

I know how the Canadians love hockey, it's a matter of national pride to win the Gold.... and no amount of money would persuade a native born Canadian to do differently.

It's like football, two teams enter and on any given day, either team can win. this time is was the USA's turn. Tomorrow... who knows.

pretty amazing if you ask me, Canada and Russia, the 2 teams thought to be fighting it out for the gold are now fighting to stay alive.  While not a miracle (US winning) it is a great accomplishment.  The US has a bunch of young virutal nobodys vs 4 lines of superstars.
How many of the US players do you think would have made the Canadian team.  I don't even think Miller would have made that team.

The hockey is really unpredictive. I like how Norway played against the Slovaks. Could as well have been Norway that won the game. There are some good players in that team, like Zuccarello who's always fun to watch. Many of the top teams have played both great and bad games. Sad though that one of Canada or Russia will eliminate the other already. I thought Finland could go far this year. They didn't play well against Sweden, but they should get their game together against the Chezh. Koivu and Selänne should produce more than they did in that game, Jarkko Ruuto wasn't playing as he usually does. I would have liked to see Tuukka Rask in the Olympic roster, but the other goalies aren't exaclty bad either. Haven't seen any game with USA yet. As for Sweden goes the defense is looking ok but it's sad to see that Zetterberg doesn't produce when teamed up with Forsberg and Hörnqvist.

Just checked out ski cross for the first time and it's quite fun to watch. Quick and tight races and some crashes so anyone can take the win. Watched the womens races and it seemed to be dominated by Canadians and Norwegians.

Marit Bjørgen managed a silver medal on her last race and in total 5 medals this olympics. That`s one hell of an achievement. Well done Marit and have a nice flight back home. Our curling team was blasted of the playground by the Canadians but what the heck..

Finally the last day of the olympics is here with the GRAND FINAL Mens 50km cross country. Favourite is Lukas Bauer but the Swedish team looks strong and let us not forget Petter Northug. Here is what I think will happen; Lukas will open really strong and manage to get a distance between him and the hunting pack behind. Then the tempo will settle and the rest will catch up if possible. If not they will let Lukas go ahead and win and the rest will race for the left overs.
