Hi guys, what is the best regulator for 48/51 ida's. Is it best to run a return line to the gas tank??

Most of the regulatores, are to high on psi.

Highly recommend a by-pass regulator -- It allows your fuel pump to work easier and cooler because of the fuel constantly flowing through it (your pump will last a lot longer) I burned up a lot of Holley blue and black pumps because they were dead headed at the carbs, issue stopped once I went to by-pass regulators -- --

IF you plan on EVER going to E85 or alcohol, buy a alcohol rated regulator now -- cheaper than buying twice -- first one is for gas, second for alcohol

Hi Ian, tanks, but what about the pressure? The psi is 4,5 to 9. The best pressure for the ida's is 3 to 3,5 right?

Where in the tank, do you make the return( stock fueltank)?

I was looking at this myself as I'm thinking of changing my fuel system from the stock mechanical pump to an electric pump, stainless braided lines etc. Engine is a 2110 with IDA's.  When I looked at the Holley pumps and regulator I saw the same thing, that they were for a higher psi than the IDA's like to operate at.  I like the Mallory pumps better as they say they are compatible with the pump gas I have to use that has alchohol in it.  The low pressure mallory pump also allows you to adjust the pressure at the pump, or so it says in the documentation.  So what i was thinking was when I was setting it up that I connect all lines, start the pump, have a fuel pressure gauge after the fuel line tee to the carbs, and adjust the output presure at the pump while watching / checking the gauge. I know others are using mallory pumps but I'm not sure if this is what they have done.  Also the mallory pump is a Georotor pump which is supposed to be quiter than the other pumps (holley). The pump is rebuilable as well.  I looked at the other mallory pumps with bypass but the operating pressure seems too high for carbureted applications, they looked like they were for EFI applications.  This is just what I found.

I`ve never had a problem with a holley red pump and red reg on my 2110 ida motor.

Holley black pump and Aeromotive 13204 here.

Return style carb regulator. Will regulator down to 1,5psi..

AN8-line to filter from the bottom of the (stock) tank.
AN8-line to the pump
AN8-line to the regulator
AN8-returnline to the filler cap.

AN6 x2 from the regulator to the carbs
