Going to finish up the top end of a motor and get it ready to fire up next weekend on my engine stand before installing it in the car, that had overheated.

Pick up tube came out of case, lose of oil pressure, guy keep driving, got hot, damage was not to bad, lifter bore went south, Berg fixed the pick-up tube,  and rebushed the lifter bores, and they also honed the barrels cause of scuffing, and DPR polished the crank. All new bearing and rings. Should be good to go. The lesson was learned, all good now.

Went to see my mate Allan at my local muffler shop.
We managed to fab up a new muffler set up, really happy how the muffler tucks up under the rear apron.
I now have an extra 25mm of ground clearance, oh and it sounds tough as too.
Will paint it up on the weekend.

Cheers Col

Hey Sarge.   I think you just need a longer car for the tandem.

- left rear window regulator repair in 2010 jetta ... cool that the outer skin comes off the doors in these vehicles for any internal repairs needed
- repaired a power steering fluid leak in a 2002 Eurovan ... exhaust had rubbed and worn thru hard line on steering rack - replaced and bled
- overheating problem on 2003 passat 1.8T passat - replaced thermostat and replaced sealing o-ring on heater hose at rear flange to repair upcoming coolant leak
UNRELATED to VW activity, but replaced a broken ignition switch rotation-input assembly on a 2006 Jeep Liberty - saving he customer over $600 compared to the dealer
- traced down an electrical short in a 2005 passat TDI wagon to the instrument cluster - pulled cluster for warranty replacement
- at 6:20pm a woman arrived with a "sticky brake' problem with a '74 super beetle ... turned out to be a failed outer wheel bearing on the left front. Had to heat the race RED HOT just to free it from the spindle! cleaned up the spindle with emory cloth and replaced both bearings. Adjusted the brakes and checked over the vehicle as she was headed home, over 80 miles away! She was back on the road in 1 1/2 hours, lucky we had the parts in stock.

Walked in thru the garage finally home at 8:20 pm after arriving at the shop at 7:48am earlier... right past the blue car hardly looking at it.

Another day in the life.

Thanks John!... was thinking of silver, too but noticed a sort of "ghosting" when the sun hit it a certain way.  I mentioned what I saw to the salesman who replied that VW had "issues" with some of it's metallic colors this year.

Hey Sarge.   I think you just need a longer car for the tandem.

The bike will fit on top easily... just waiting for a part to complete the rack install.

Wish I had a buck for every one of those plastic coolant flanges I sold during my career... I could'a retired way sooner!

Thanks Jim!  Hard to believe it's really a diesel... no noise and no smell! Smiley

Finished up the 4.57 w/082 4th gear 002 trans for my 68 Bus (Thanks to Scott Sebastion). Did brake work on a 61 bug at Scott`s shop and took reduction boxes off of an early Bus trans. A long hot day.

Sarge I'm sure you are loving the sportwagen.  We've got a 2012 sportwagen just did 49.2 mpg on the way to work. Ours is candy white with titan black interior too. Great cars! Don't you love the panoramic sunroof.
