Title: Another 68 from Austria
Post by: dielinde on June 11, 2013, 19:10:29 pm
He guys, iŽm Matthias, 31, work in a retirement home as a geriatric nurse  ;). I am "bugged" since i bought in 1995 my first issue of VW Speed... on the cover was a chopped custom bug called street roach... A few weeks ago i bought a nice 68 1300 bug, and iŽll build a summer daily late looker..... HereŽs a pic of the beauty  ;)

Some guys restored it about ten years ago. They worked not perfekt, but itŽs an solid car  ;D and bonestock except from an old luisi steering wheel

so andnow  iŽll penetrate you with my cal looker in the making  :D

cheers matthias

Oh, that's nice! Jealous!

If it was mine I'd add dropped spindles and discs on the front in Porsche pattern, redrilled rear drums and a set of anodised Fuchs. A nice little 2007 IDA motor and it'd be perfect! 8)

This week the postman brought some goodies to me  :D

A set of used fake gasburners... i know i know, but the price was hot  8)

they are in very good condition....

and on an auction plattform (  :P ) i purchase cheap an empi trigger shifter  >:( bad quality iŽve to rework it a lil bit, cause i canŽt shift back from third to second gear  ???

and Helge Ohmes from DFL sent a set of TDE rearpipes for the sound of the stock engine, before iŽll buy when the money let a bigger mill..... they are stainless steel and sounds good  :)

Thx guys

the bug was a good deal  :D

today i reworked and mounted the empi shifter  ;D now it works fine  :)

here are pics from the dash... the radio is to modern, iŽll change it to an older one or iŽll mount some gauges for the bigger mill in i plan in future... but with the empi shifter it looks nice and clean i think... maybe an lil tach or something

Today i tried on my gasburners, cause i want see if i should buy a normal adj. beam or an narrowed one....

The Wheels looks nice on the red car i think...

pics will follow soon but iŽve just screwed on the wheel without a tire with one bolt, cause i am still waiting for the correct drums  ;)

The Gasburners look really great under a late model, and with stock wide beam and brake drums they will fit perfect under the fender.

Yes, i had the same setup on my car before the Porsche disc brakes. After that i had to narrow the beam 1 inch because the disc brakes are wider than drums.

Nice and clean ride! Congrats.

I agree, 3-4 inner splines and 3-4 outer in return will make the rear just a little bit lower and improve the overall looks.

No i donŽt want lower the rear but in future, when the car gets a bigger mill, iŽll but on the rear 205/70s or some other 70th tires... i love them with this white lettering  ;D ;D

today i got some alu T-Bars from Fast Fab  8) 8)

and i built them on:

Try a look  :o

now i donŽt know where i should built the license plate on.... i donŽt want drill holes in the front....

and i know... the rear looks not very well with the stock exhaust pipes.... i think iŽll put on a single or dual quiet muffler...

have a nice day  ;)

You'r bug is looking good, but i prefer the late models with bumpers.
I think i know the rims...  ;D
I'll keep an eye on the thread  ;)

I love it without the bumpers! You said that quiet packs are coming (duals would look great!) So the only change I'd make is to black out the letters on the rear tyres - I've never been a fan of them!

Title: Re: Another 68 from Austria
Post by: dielinde on September 23, 2013, 10:56:55 am
Thx  :)

but i have to say that i love the white letter tires  :D :D

but when these tires are done iŽll mount 205/70 r 15, they look better i think....

i wait foro the radio bezel, but the guys from bugwelder didnŽt sent it by now
