So I need some help in trouble shooting an electrical issue.
Here is a little histroy:
Drove the Car (1968 type I) to Phoenix Bug O Rama a few weeks back, 40 miles each way. It ran perfect. Due to a busy schedule I hadn't driven it in a few weeks.

Saturday I went to drive it and the battery was dead. I put a charge on it.
Once charged I turned the key and the red light was the only thing to come on. No green oil pres light?

The car has full VDO gauges (Volt, Fuel, Tach, Oil Pres). None of them moved.

I also noticed the noisy crappy Facet fuel pump wasn't making noise.
Tried to crank it and it turns over just fine! Of course it won't start because it isn't getting fuel.

All the fuses are good. I took the mall out and made sure the contacts are clean.

Checked the wires on the backside of the fuse block and the ones that should come on when the key turns are all working correctly.

So any ideas from the Lounge?

Brew,
Did you test the battery after you charged it? Sounds like it may not have taken a charge. Battery may be bad......

Check to make sure the wire from the battery to the regulator hasn't come off/loose under the rear seat ... even if you run an alternator ... make sure it's not loose from the junction.
Good luck!

It sounds like you may have a problem with your ignition switch. If the fuel pump isn't turning on and the gauges are dead, something isn't powering up in the front of the car.

Bill,

Great looking car.  When I finally fire up the chop top we will have to hook up over off 83rd and Union Hills some Saturday night.

mmmmm, i think this is a serious issue. I would be tempted to sell the car and let someone else have the problems.......... if you want I can wire $500 and take it off your hands.... Grin Grin Grin

On a more serious note: very cool car.

Rick,
The 83rd ave cruis moved to 67th and Bell in the Kmart lot (no customers).

Guys thanks for the compliments on the car. I will tell my dad it still gets compliments!

He built it in 1991! It even has a nice 90's interior (my eyes)
