I'm liking that blue car, JF. I agree w/Ted... would be cool to see what size tires he's running on the front.

Mark, notice the quarter windows where the splice is? At the bottom, instead of by the post, very different, but I like it.

like the factory system a connection to the carbs, can provide the carbs with a oilmist. the carbs pull air from the box, so it doesn't 'fill-up' with excess air and pressure (which is a reason less quality (mismatched) breathers do not work on bigger or heavier breathing engines.
also the biggest benefit is that the carbs, valves, guides,... are lubed a bit. if this happens at all, i think it does.

I think it's a good way to make the engine smell less. To have heaterboxes and not have a closed case ventsystem in a aircoold engine is a not nice when you turn up the heat...

Had that exact set up on my orange '66, thirty years ago. Used American Racing caps then went to Lakewood Motors Volkswagen and bought the Wolfsburg center stickers. Looked way better than the black Lillegard caps.

Those are almost identical to mine... I had the later chrome on black Wolfsburg crests on them.

Mark, were yours painted gunmetal like that? I don't remember that.

gotta love those 8 spokes, there's too few cars running nice ones these days.
too bad the cheap empi repops, which are about the only ones around here, look so "off"

Hey, That's my new car!!!!! Shocked

Hello,
I have been lurking here for a while, never posting, just learning. I ended up buying this car to save myself a ton of time and $$ building that exact car.  It is pretty nice, and I am still trying to decide what to do with the wheels.  I also have a set of knock off riviera's, and know a guy with a set of OG steel 4 lug sprint stars I might be able to get.  The rear needs to come down a bit, and I am getting some 205/65's for the rear.  I will refresh and then swap my 2054 out of my current car into the white one.  i am also trying to decide what to do about the one piece windows the previous owner attempted installing.  They look good, but I am after trouble free daily use.  I am shooting for a clean, fun easy daily driver.  No show winner, no exact 100% correct period car, just something I like and car beat on every day.

Looks good Brian... once the doors have been cut for 1 pieces you're pretty much committed. brining the car down will help. It looks good on the 8s.

Welcome to the Lounge. You have a real nice car there. As said, the back should go down a bit, your kinda stuck with the one-piece windows, looks nice with them anyway, if they work well, your fine. I agree with Rick, the 8's really look good on Late's, and they look good on yours. The Riviera's are cool wheels, but I think the 8's nice. The whole overall look of the car kicks ass! Any pics of the inside? Whatever you do with the car, I'm sure it'll look good, it's your car. Thats what cool about this hobby, you make it your own. Keep us up to date on your project.

No, the center cap just reminded me of what I did. I threw away the original black caps and was stoked when I walked into Cerritos  Wheel & Custom to find a set of chrome caps that fit my wheels. I wanted something different. Then, over to the VW dealer to buy a set of the chrome on black (like yours) Wolfsburg stickers. I was so proud of that subtle little feature on my car. Of course, I was only 19 years young. HAHA!!

The wheels were their original gold for awhile, then I painted 'em orange, later... beige. Got burnt out on 'em and borrowed a set of Bob Rey's brother's pristine Fuchs 2.0 liter wheels. Later, Dave Rosique sold me the EMPI 5 spokes. Lastly, the car had n.o.s. real Porsche 356 B wheels. LOVED those!

I think I remember your car with the beige 8s or I might be confusing it with Schwimmers 70
