Any opinions on period Porsche 911 seats?
I think they look great but they don't appear as popular as I expected.

Are they the bernie runners as well, did you have to remove the stock seat runners (on floorpan) to fit them?

Hi, here are the empi bucket seats, they look comfortable but they aren´t! the other thing is you have to modify the mounts, otherwise you look like a dwarf by driving your bug!! ( i´m 1,9m tall, and all you can see is my head!!)

Only for drag-racing it´s OK!!

They are Bernard's runners, and you don't have to remove the original runners.
The only problem I have with them is that the seats don't move far enough forward- not that I'm a short arse! - but if you wanna get someone in the back they literally have to climb over.

nice one, you got a better pic of your 67 please?

Here are some good options

Click on the thumbnails to see options and prices.  You can also get tilt-brackets so that you can access your rear seat more easily.

I've got early 912 seats in my bug, like the ones in the ex-Goss/Seume chop-top, retrimmed in tan before I bought them. They feel just like armchairs, very comfortable, but big! I'll be sticking with stock seats in the '70, but the '51 will probably get Beards or the Empi/Race Trim copies.

I've found seats for my next project on a 58 sedan.
Theyre were made 10 years ago and never used since. That's why the left one is full of dust.
I also had tissue to cover doors panel.

If I remember right the Recaro`s are correct for those RS models:

I had this recaro RS seats, very cool one but it was way to small for me (2meter)...

I looked now for a while after a seat with headrests in 70`s style to suit me, but till now no model really suited me.

...Beard seats are dune buggie seats...

We were sat (comfortably) in a restaurant in Havasu city and the people in the booth behind (one of which wasn't sitting so comfortably) were discussing the fact that the seats in a CLK weren't so comfortable with hemorrhoids so one of the guys suggested sticking Beards in it. This was a guy that had also confused the hell out of some turtle by putting it in the back of his pick up and driving it home to chill out in his hot tub, god knows why. So anyway good for dune buggies and piles.

With the padding they are far better than the cheap poly seats. The only issue is how to mount them. I would weld two bars going from the heater channel to the tunnel and use them as a mount for the seats.

The trouble with 914 seats is that they lack any sideways support. Look good, but barely any more supportive than a stock VW seat round corners.

For me the coolest seat is the Recaro Rallye II, manufactured from 1974 to 1979.
It has adjustable back rest and a metal exoskeleton in wrinkle finish... you can also see the padding thru windows in the side.
They were optional from M-sport for the 2002Tii BMW:
And they were standard fitment to the Scirocco junior Cup cars:

Got these in mine.  Look good but headrest is pointless, it hits below my shoulders.  I'm planning a change in the future.

Have you guys seen the TMI Sport seat kits in the March issue of Hot VW''s ? That's the route I am going! Finally, kits to hop up your original VW seats that look awesome! Just wondering how much they really firm up the seat pads????
Seems the springs have to weaken in these original seats over time. I beat a good seat guy could firm them up too. The new TMI gives your stock seat that wrap around fit to hold you in place, yet still looks original! I like it alot! ;)

Man -- you guys with your shoulder harnesses anchored well below your shoulders -- you need to do something about that - PLEASE -- one hard hit with those on can cause more damage/injury to you than if you hadn't worn them at all

I went for early 911/ 912 seats with headrests.

Dont know if there cal look or not, but they are from roughly the same era as my 59, and I think they suit the car well. :)

I ran these SCAT seats in my 67 bug and decided to run them again in my 66 chop.  It allows me the ability to fully recline them and they have a lot of adjustment forward and back. They are great on road trips too. I bought extra material and had CLF member ZACH do biscuit door panels to match.

Plan on checking out these models SOON.
Just happened across the website a while back and turns out the guy just moved HERE to Austin!
Several models I like the looks of and prices seem a bit more reasonable than some I've seen ...
Will report back when I get my hands, errr Butt in some!
