Cool, I thought you'd been quiet, it's looking good. Liking the aluminium work, do you do decklids?  :o

We'll see you at Flamin' Thingy and it looks like I'll have my car for the RWYB on the Sunday, I was still struggling with that ignition / fuel issue but Richie popped over yesterday and got the thing fixed. Still stuff to do but that was the biggie stopping play.

It was late and we'd run out of fuel testing it trying various fixes so we couldn't be sure it was OK when he left but I popped out earlier, got some gas, fired it and went out for a drive and it's back, Not bad at all.

How sad  :-\

Shit happens . . . that's racing

But I find 'gloating' at another's misfortune beneath contempt :-[

Brian, looking back over the thread, I can't see anyone gloating over the carnage. Nobody likes to see good components reduced to dust, or a track temporarily out of action as a result. The thread on VZi almost glorifies the failure, which I found odd ("Wow it still ran a 14.90 on two cylinders" etc) and I guess some people couldn't understand why the car continued the whole quarter under power while self-destructing. As you say, shit happens that's racing and as a (former) racer, I know how such carnage hurts, both wallet and ego. But you have no need to go on the defensive in a first posting on what is quite probably the most laid-back forum on the scene.

Regarding the blow-up, I will say this, like most things you do (and have done), when you did it, you did it in style!  :) Who needs a Haynes manual to see where the engine parts go?

Good luck with the rebuild and look forward to seeing the car in action.

That’s a huge loss, there wont be many useable parts after that. :(

On a lighter note, think of the engine like a Gift Shop...lots of Expensive Souvenirs  ;D

Most tracks I run at would ban you for life for running a oil sprayer down the track like that.
It shuts the track down for good 1-2hrs easily when you drag that shit all the way across the finish line..
Plus the guy behind him's gonna have fun and might put his car in the wall.

Nothing to be proud of in my book...

You are "supposed" to pull out of the groove and stop. Anything else will get people pissed off fast....

i guess running a motor like that, you pretty much gotta concentrate on kepping the thing in a straight line!! i dont know the details of the failure, but if just 2 pistons and barrells blew, the motor could run(just), and with boost, & possibly still oil pressure, there would be no tell tell signs(flashing lights etc!!) in the cockpit!! apart from lookin in ya rear view mirror at the cloud, but like i said, the pilot has gotta concentrate hard in a 10 sec bug!!! My cuz now owns it(Pauly B) and its doin fine...new paradise motor etc.... so lets hope he doesnt have the same bad luck mr burrows had! :)
