Title: Momo prototipo history
Post by: beetletom on March 13, 2017, 19:54:43 pm
A bit off topic, but lots of actual knowledgeable people on here.

Just picked up, what I believe to be a pre 74 stacked momo logo wheel

Looking on the net, Porsche people pay a crazy amount for them?!

But not much information on the net

Smaller than the later versions which are sold now, approx 320mm I would say?

Momo Prototipo is really good looking old school steering wheel.
Mine is 350-360mm in diameter, and I bought it used for about 60€ in excellent condition.
I allready have horn push with Wolfsburg logo, and I plan to polish it - currently it is anodized in black.

320mm is too small for the Porsche guys - needs to be 350-360 diameter.

No Prototipo is ever too small, your wheel could be 310mm usually a special order fitted to the likes of Lancia, Alfa or Ferrari, etc. It is definitely earlier than 74' and should fetch a decent coin which the market will dictate.
Beautiful steering wheel to have survived all these years with minimal wear and perfect patina, would be great in a early Manx.

If it's worth quite a bit, may be worth selling to the right person? I'll only be fitting it to a mk1 golf anyway...

Sorry but in the Porsche market, 320mm is considered too small... I have no idea of other markets as I have no experience of them.

You should have said,"These are not the steering wheel parts you seek"
