We took the 'Old Cabrio' to Barona yesterday so Richie could do more license passes, they were running an event called Match Race Madness and also a bracket class.

There were a few VW's running, here's a few pics that I took during the day, we also got a few videos that I will add later.

Hopefully it might inspire some of you to work on your cars on a miserable winter afternoon (yes it's even raining here today in 'sunny' California!!  Shocked )

Cheers

We thought it was a pinto, but my knowledge of that era American cars is limited so maybe something else

The Bobcat was a rebadged Pinto. I thought the taillights looked like the Bobcat.

Brief race day report

We went knowing we wouldn't get much chance to run the car with the Match race madness and the bracket race but as it was a nice sunny day went anyway.

I got 2 passes, 1st one just wheel hopped like crazy as the CM 1st gear switch failed, I figured that out and made some setting adjustments and hoped it would be better as this was a new clutch set up i haven't tried before.

Well it worked as it went 1.30 60ft Shocked Cool which is a best ever for this car Grin

It wheelied more than I expected and went slightly right, I think I probably tried to correct it while in the air so as it came down and I shifted to 2nd it went the other way toward the center line and I got out of it.
After some time thinking about it I have come to the conclusion that i am leaving with not enough boost so the clutch doesn't slip enough, currently it is 14-15lbs and before it was 22lbs so I will try some more enxt time out, by the time we had a chance to run again it was dark and getting cold so I decided to leave it till thursday to try again
I have had it apart enough today to re torque the heads, check everything is tight and check the valves to make sure its all good to go again which it is Smiley

Refreshing! Thanks for sharing Jo and Richie. Out playing with old friends  Smiley It look like it was a bit windy as well.

No snow here yet and it has been a mild winter so far, fingers crossed.

It would fall under fair use because it is posted here for comment, criticism and educational purposes.   Also the source is posted directly above and he's not passing it off as his own, selling it, making money off its use or using it to promote anything.

On Peters website and if you right click the photo a disclaimer pops up where reserves all rights and prohibits all usage -- Dude makes his living from taking these photos, not sharing them for comment, criticism and educational purposes ---- I was just honoring his requests, something I had to learn the hard way

Some guy turns up at a private business facility, takes pics of stuff that cost people 10s of 1000s to build without anyone's express permission, then says they can't have copies of their own cars without paying him?!?!?!?!

Sounds like a protection racket to me!  Cheesy

I've always liked the colour of your hotrods Ritchie. Is that a particular colour, or just a generic creamy yellow sorta colour?
Nice vid.  Grin
