Title: E10 gas and German braided hose

There's been talk about the E10 gas attacking the rubber and causing it to crack. And with the German cloth covering you won't see it until its too late.

Well... i'm getting ready to reinstall my engine and decided to check how the German braided hose is holding up after 5 years and 12,000 miles. So I cut it pen and found.. .nothing. No cracks, no wear, so sign of deterioration. Its looks brand new so i'm not replacing any more of it.

Ignore the cuts, it's from me cutting the hose open.

E15 is coming soon.  That might cause some issues.

We've had E10 fuel in Canada for over 15 years and I've also never seen any effect on German braided fuel lines...and I tend to leave my fuel lines installed for many years (5+) before replacing.

I've had the same experience over the same timespan. I haven't even had problems with the hoses on my domestic stuff and I spent most of my time in California where the fuel was reportedly the worst due to MTBE and the newer ethanol mixes.

The only problem I've had with ethanol fuel is corrosion but it's not as bad as some people make it out. If I let carburetors sit with fuel in the bowls over the winter the bowls get a little fuzzy from oxidation. So now I just dump the tank and let the engine idle itself dry. No problems since.

Good to hear, Glenn, is that CRP brand? I heard the rumors (some fact) from customers, many who said in less than 12 months, their 5mm stock braided hose had deteriorated into "garden soaker hose."
When I did my fuel line stuff I used 8mm BMW hose, like for E30's, which according to our vendor, is designed to resist alcohol /oxygenated fuels
