I've got an early one for sale. I was just showing it to Gary Berg today and he said that he prefered the early one... so if you're interested...

It's super easy to get around the tube and stud problem on an early 4 quart. What I have done on 2 Berg 4 quarts is tap out/press out the tubes and simply drill and tap the bottom flange to rotate the sump plate. Then use the Berg nuts available for later sumps to bolt it up to the case. Done! BTW Berg no longer has the long studs for the early 4 quart, but still have the stud tubes and pick up tubes.
