Guys,

Next season I want to have a bigger motor in my '64. Because this will be my first motor-build I want to play safe and go for a proven combo like an 1776/1915 or 1679.

In the webshop of a dutch shop they sell these SCAT engine kits, for 700 euros you get a lot of stuff. Crank, rods, piston & cilinders, cam, lifters, push rods, oil pump and some little stuf like gaskets etc.

What are your opinions about these kits? The crank is a cast one, will that be a problem?

Thanks!

They are good, depends on what you want to achieve, you can easily upgrade the crank to a chromoly one for a small extra cost

go for it jesse!
it's not a lot of money, and perhaps you can upgrade the crank.

it's pretty cool to see it's a kit with a lot of parts in it already  Smiley

Like Richie said depends for what the use of the engine will be but nothing wrong with that crank.
I have run several c/w cranks that where welded with no problems at all, even dragraced with them.

Jesse i would go for the package if your budget will allow it. Cool

Thanks for the replies guys, I will contact Kaag to see if an upgrade to a forged crank is possible. I want to use the motor as a weekend cruiser/racer and some drags at EBI or DDD.
