Title: 2779ccm oxyboxer
Post by: bang on February 12, 2009, 21:09:13 pm
hey. just finish building my 2779 oxy boxer for my 62 type 1. the build up has been on the way for 2 years where we were trying to get the right parts for it. my freind rolf has been a big help with all the work and support. it startet with a stock wbx case who we machined for oxy. put in udo becker alu busing for lifters. after that we did some changes on the oil system so it looks like a full flow on a type 1.
when the engine was finish last year just 2 days before scc i did a test run. it pulled strong and when i changed to 2. gear the flywheel came off and that was my seson. had to change the crank and flywheel and a welded dpr crank with wedge made flywheel in not a stock part.
so i took the engine apart and decided to do some upgrade on the engine.
now it is redy to fire up agin.

the engine is build up with.
86mm dpr crank with wedge made flywheel
jpm ms230 heads in 4" 12,6:1
fk89 cam
2"header
full msd
pauter rods 5,7"
wanolia 101,6 piston with aa cylinder
manton push rods
51,3 mm jay cee ida.. will change to berg 58 next week  :P

Now that's a beautiful engine. Is it built for street and strip,or...............?
Any idea about the power output?
And please, post some pics from the car.  ;)

Nice work . Hope you fixed the crank and flywheel right now !? Do you think these welded cranks are strong enough ?

I have done some oxyboxer engines for circuit racing . 82x96 . These cases are the very best and strongest cases you can get . They work with a lot of power over many many years ...

hey udo. there is a big differens between my old demello and my new dpr. dpr has got a better finish and it just feels better.. my new crank has got 5 bas bolts 5 pins and it is wedge made with the flywheel so think it will be allright. my old crank is going into a 2387 oxy for my 65 splitbus.. så it is going to be a torq monster.

Very nice indeed! What header did you use with this long stroke, long rod combo?

quality job. i sold my wbx case last month. dunno why i bought it, there so much machining to do, but the results are astonishing.

this is a bit off topic, but why did you paint the cylinders black? does that help the heat dissipation?

Post by: bang on February 14, 2009, 13:18:28 pm
i dont know whát brand the header is, but think all the margde can be adjustet for long stroker.. the aa cylinder cams paintet black.
yes there is alot to do when you want to build big and even more when you want to build oxy.. but it is wery strong stuff.. will post more pictures later..

i have my 2779 for my drag car and a 2387 on the way for my 65 splitwindow bus.. ;D

karl h.. nice engine. where do you get the limbach heads? and are they with wbx bolt holes?.. where do you live

bought the heads from peter gierlich in germany, extensively modified, welded, 44x38. they made 202hp on his 2.4
limbach heads come with wbx stud pattern, they are basically an 040 head with the bigger pattern
i´m in austria

Gerd Weiser sells the Sauer heads with extra finnage and also made originally for wbx pattern.

I have done some work on those heads , they are good for street use because of the very good cooling , i have one engine on the circuit track with the heads , 96x82 with 225 hp. But if you want big ports you better go with the CB CE heads . You can get them without  holes bored for the cylinderbolts .
