the lower gauge is for oil temperature, the upper for oil pressure. the red switch is the "hazard" (?) switch. you need it, to get the car road legal over here. the red switch has a light, so it flashes red when pulled. was thinking about converting it to a shift light :-)

the gauges are alle vdo, the oldest (rev counter, 60mm) is from '68, the newest from '86. I just replaced the original black rings with chromed ones. Tonigh I will do the wiring, where's my fire extinguisher? :-)

hey, you are copying my dash

we're all copying :-)
at first, I wanted to have some empi dash inserts, but after taking a closer look, I decided that this wood look-a-like is really ugly :-)

where did you get the chromed rings?

I got them at ebay germany. You can also get them here:
http://www.fett-electronic.de/

Next to come is a round fuel gauge to match the other gauges.

naah, i'm going for the previous look of your. 2 oil gauges on the left i that frame, i already contacted the guys that makes em a few weeks ago, and a monster tach.
perhaps a matching fuel gauge, but then the chrome strip ends a bit sudden.

Monster Tachs are RUBBISH  Cheesy just my 2 cents Smiley

monster tachs aren't rubbish, they are ESSENTIAL for a FAST bug. when everything else around you is all blurry, you need something easy to see. for proper use they are better off mounted on the dash, angled toward your head so there are no distractions. a bit "pub" if you like, but goodies like turbos and NOS tend to make the dial whip round like lightning  Cheesy then your just waiting for that big ol'shift light to blink at you
remember i said a FAST bug !  Wink Grin

true,it's more of a function over fashion deal.
depends on what you have out back and if you have a rev limiter or just rely on a hard to read guage.   Tongue Grin

reminds me of the story of the wife of a clubmember who drove his car occassionally...
she thought she had to wait until the shift light came on before changing gear... proper driving Smiley
luckily she didn't use reverse !

I have a shiftlight and a monster and don't use either as I can't really see them. If I thought there was any point in moving them I would, I have a billet dash mount in a box somewhere.  Then again my car is a little on the slow side. Smiley

 Cheesy

I'd love to but my concern would be that I get mesmerised by all those guages and forget myself, I only have mine installed where they can't distract me.  Tongue

NO what I ment was "they are RUBBISH"  Smiley Also the BEST place for any tacho is mounted on the Bonnet/hood right in your line of sight, you never have to take your eyes off the road  Smiley

And as for shift lights - they are just for guys who don't know their car/engine Wink

Just my 2 cents  Smiley
